為了解決網頁設計師在EDM設計上的困擾，我曾陸續寫過HTML Email設計教戰守則、Inline CSS轉換器等文章。但，或許推動一個Email Standards Project才是治本之道。

在Email Standards Project（縮稱：ESP）官網上，提供了一個Acid Test，針對以下網頁標準進行測試：

  1. Background-image
  2. Background-image-position
  3. Background-image-position a:hover
  4. Border
  5. Color/background-color
  6. Descendant-selectors
  7. Float/clear
  8. Font family/size/weight/style
  9. Font-family names with quotes
  10. Font inheritance
  11. Line-height
  12. List-style-image
  13. Margin
  14. Padding
  15. Varying link-colors
  16. Width/height

在這項測試下，既有電子郵件軟體中，表現較好（Excellent）的是：

  1. AOL Webmail
  2. Apple Mail
  3. Eudora (Penelope)
  4. Entourage
  5. Thunderbird
  6. Windows Live Mail
  7. Windows Mail
  8. Yahoo! Mail
  9. Yahoo! Mail (Classic)

表現持平（Average）的Windows Live Hotmail。

至於，表現較差的則有：

  1. Apple .Mac
  2. Google Gmail
  3. Lotus Notes 8
  4. Outlook 2007

網頁標準的制定，對網頁設計師而言，永遠是件好事，但，就我自己的郵件軟體使用經驗來說，在Acid Test裡表現不佳的Gmail，其實就工具性來說，應該是利多於弊，或許EDM的時代已經要成為過去了。
